Boise Police Detectives are asking for help in identifying three persons of interest who may have information regarding a News Year’s Day stabbing.

About 1:45 a.m. New Year’s day, officers receive a report of a fight taking place near Jefferson Street in front of the Idaho Statehouse. When officers arrived, they located two men who said they had been in a physical fight and two other men.

Both victims received injuries from “an edged weapon,” said Boise Police Department spokesman Charles McClure. “One of the victims had what appeared to be serious injuries from the altercation, the other received what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for immediate medical attention. Detectives believe that alcohol may have been a factor in this case,” he said.

According to the victims, a verbal altercation between the four men had taken place just prior to the stabbing in the area of 8th and Bannock Streets. Victims tell police a foot chase between all four men took place in the area of the Capital building on Jefferson Street. The males confronted each other in the park, just South of the Capital building and the physical fight began, McClure added.

One suspect is described by police as a light-skinned male wearing a black beanie-style hat and a possible dark hoodie jacket. Witnesses said he had an average build.

The other man is described as a simply “a light skinned adult with an average build.” There was no clothing description.
