Eagle attorney charged with aggravated assault
BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Bail was set at $300,000 for an Eagle attorney charged with threatening an 84-year-old man, firing shots inside a house and resisting arrest.
Gregory James Vietz is charged with aggravated assault, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, battery, discharging a firearm in city limits, resisting arrest and battering a police animal. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 6.
Deputies received a report at about 7 p.m. Tuesday that the 56-year-old man was "acting irrationally and threatening to harm himself."
The 84-year-old man said Vietz threatened him with a gun and shot several rounds into the walls. Officers negotiated with Vietz to leave the house, but then he failed to follow orders. Officers say he tried to hit and kick the police dog, which then bit him on the arm.
