Area schools close early, cancel night classes due to Valley snow
While many students in the Treasure Valley swarmed to Simplot hill or Camelbacks Park in Boise -– or even to the streets and yards in their own neighborhoods -- to enjoy a “snow day,” school district officials are watching the weather to determine of schools will be open or closed on Friday.
Some schools and districts have already announced early closures or cancellations of evening classes.
In the Boise School District, all extracurricular activities, including all athletic practices and games have been cancelled, officials said. The Just for Kids Child Care programs and the Boise Evening School are also closed.
Classes at the Stevens-Henager Colleges in both Boise and Nampa have been cancelled for this evening
The University of Phoenix Campus in Meridian will also not be holding classes tonight. Students are encouraged to visit their student website for a message from faculty or contact their academic advisor with questions.
The Cassia School District closed at 1:30 Thursday afternoon. School District officials plan to assess the situation again early Friday morning and are scheduled to make an announcement at that time regarding Friday classes
The Minidoka School District closed at 1 p.m. Thursday.
District officials also plan an announcement Friday morning as to whether or not schools will be open.
Also, The Idaho Attorney General’s Foreclosure Workshop scheduled for tonight at the Fort Hall Housing Authority has been cancelled due to weather and driving conditions.
We are continuing to monitor class cancellations and school closures.
