Meridian man pleads guilty to fatal shooting
BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A 23-year-old Meridian man charged with shooting a Boise man in the head last March has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
The plea agreement calls for Gregory Shain to be sentenced to 10 years in prison with parole eligibility after serving two years for the shooting death of 23-year-old Gary Arlen Jr.
Shain said he and Arlen were playing with an unloaded gun and drinking in Arlen's basement before someone put the clip back in the .45 caliber handgun. Shain said he raised the gun as he was leaving and Arlen said to him, "Do it, do it, do it," and Shain fired at Arlen's head.
An autopsy found Arlen had drugs in his system.
Shain is scheduled to be sentenced on March 8.
