One dead after dump truck hits train
On Wednesday, Jan. 9, just after 10:00 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a fatality crash on State Highway 36 near milepost 127, just east of Dayton.
"A Franklin County dump truck was headed eastbound on State Highway 36," according to the Idaho State Police. "There was thick fog in the area. The dump truck struck the side of a train that was already in the railroad crossing near milepost 127. Multiple train cars were derailed, and the tracks were damaged in the crash."
The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Police continue to investigate.
