Man arrested for DUI after nearly crashing into car, allegedly beating up teen inside
Idaho Falls Police arrested 54-year-old Kenneth Weibl for felony driving under the influence Saturday night after he nearly crashed into another car.
"According to reports, officers responded to the intersection of Santalema and Atlantic around 8:45 p.m. after receiving several calls of a man, later identified as Weibl, beating up a teenager. Witnesses said the two separated prior to police arrival," said Joelyn Hansen with the Idaho Falls Police Department. "Weibl fled to a nearby residence and the teenager fled to a local restaurant and called police."
The 18-year-old teenager reports he was driving when Weibl, who was driving a truck, nearly crashed into him. The teen followed Weibl to the 2300 block of Santalema, but when he approached him about the near crash, "Weibl threatened and then grabbed the teen," said Hansen.
The teen declined to press battery charges.Weibl has previous DUI convictions.
Weibl was arrested for felony DUI, disturbing the peace and failure to purchase a driver’s license.
