Boise has been ranked fifth in the nation in sexual activity. Quality Health used two key indicators to come up with their numbers: Birth rates and condom use. Experts say, another reason is Boiseans lead healthy, active lifestyles. The study even goes as far as to say that Boise is a hotbed of sexual activity. The question is, why?

“Typically, happy people want to have sex, so, depressed people not so much,” said Kama Hiner, a licensed counselor and sex therapist.

If so, then people in Boise are very happy. Part of the reason is Boise is a college town and the fact is, younger people have more sex.

“As we get age, our sexual hormones tend to decrease. Having a young, healthy population, leads to a stronger sex drive in general,” said Hiner.

One of the indicators was condom sales and Idaho ranks tenth in the nation in that category. The other main indicator is birth rate. Boiseans are apparently staying busy making babies, since we rank second in the country in that category.

And they're also going to adult shops a lot. The ladies at Adam & Eve will tell you, business is very good.

“Sales don't lie," said Liz Bayt, Manager at Adam & Eve. " We have a lot of customers that come to us looking for ways to have better sex lives, and more sex because they're enjoying what they're already having.”

Though Boise does have long dreary winters, that doesn’t mean people are staying inside and procreating.

“Sexual activity definitely increases all the endorphins and all the feel good chemicals in your brain, so it leads to happier people. Whether or not we're a happier city because of our sex activity, I don't know,” said Hiner.

What's also interesting about the making whoopee list is who didn’t make it. Las Vegas, Miami and New York, are not so famous for their love making.
