With the new expansion at the Boise Airport, the short-term parking area has been temporarily moved to a new location.

The Boise Airport spokesperson said the airport’s parking spaces fill up at least twice a week, so they are planning on expanding the airport parking garage.

Airport leaders said they've decided to expand long-term parking spaces, and provide covered short-term parking. They told us they made that decision, after receiving lots of customer feedback.

“They want to park as close as possible, and with the inclement weather, even the heat in the summer, [they want covered short-term parking]” said Patti Miller, Boise Airport Spokesperson, “to accommodate them, we have started that expansion,”

Right now, there are some new rules set in place, as the construction gets underway. Short-term parking is temporarily on the first floor of what used to be solely the long-term parking garage.

With the construction, the airport has relocated the waiting area for drivers, who are picking up arriving passengers. “We’ve also moved our cell phone lots, which had been right along entrance way,” said Miller, "to the Economy Lot with 20 minutes free to wait.”

The garage expansion project will eventually add 770 new parking spaces. Airport leaders said they plan to have the $13 million project completed in less than a year. They hope the new parking garage is complete before the Thanksgiving rush in November.
