28-year-old Boise man arrested for allegedly throwing bottle, punching victim at downtown bar

Boise Police responded to a fight at a bar on 5th and Main Streets early Tuesday morning, Jan. 1, just before 1:00 a.m. Witnesses tell police the suspect became involved in a physical altercation with the victim.

"At one point, witnesses say the suspect threw a glass bottle at the victim, causing a deep cut in the victims forehead," said Charles McClure with the Boise Police Department. "According to witnesses the suspect then punched the victim, who was on the ground, repeatedly, before being detained."

The victim was transported to a local hospital. Officers believe alcohol was factor in this incident.

Joseph P. Ryan, 28 of Boise, was arrested for felony aggravated battery.
