Horse rescued from Spokane, Wash., swimming pool
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- Firefighters in Spokane Valley, Wash., have rescued a horse from a backyard swimming pool.
The fire department says the 15-year-old mare named Missy apparently stumbled into a neighbor's pool after Monday's strong winds blew down a section of fence. The pool owner noticed the horse in the pool on Tuesday morning.
Assistant Fire Marshal Bill Clifford says the horse's hooves tore through a winterized liner, draining the water.
Firefighters built a makeshift ramp that Missy was able to use to climb out of the pool. She reportedly suffered only minor injuries.
