A California man died Tuesday from an apparent heart attack while driving a commercial truck along Interstate 84 in the Baker City area, according to Oregon State Police.

"On December 18, 2012 at approximately 10:58 a.m., OSP troopers and Baker City Fire Department responded to a report of a commercial truck and semi-trailer driving off the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 near milepost 307," said Sgt. Ty Duby with OSP. "An off-duty doctor was on scene doing CPR on the driver when emergency responders arrived. The driver was transported by ambulance to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City where he was later pronounced deceased."

OSP said that the driver, Douglas Caeton, 49 of Colfax, California, was traveling westbound when the truck and semi-trailer drifted off the right shoulder and came to rest about 50 feet from the traffic lanes.
