Ore. man wanted in attack arrested in Idaho
BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) -- Beaverton police say a man wanted on charges of attempting to kill his estranged wife and her boyfriend has been arrested in Idaho.
The police said Friday that Phillip Howell was taken into custody Thursday in Hagerman, Idaho, and was being held in the Gooding County jail awaiting extradition proceedings.
The attacks occurred Oct. 6. Police said the 30-year Howell broke into the home where April Harderer lived with their three young children.
Harderer told The Oregonian that Howell used the handle of a knife to hit her repeatedly on the head, and then used the blade to slash her arm and neck.
Police said the children saw some of the attack.
