Governor Butch Otter announced his support for a state-run health insurance exchange on Tuesday.

On Thursday, his opponents were out in force to rally against his decision.

The Gem State Tea Party and some citizens groups gathered at the Statehouse steps in hopes of getting their voices heard.

The state-based exchange now heads to the legislature. People, who attended the rally, are now hoping the lawmakers will reject it.

This Friday is the deadline, and so far more than 20 states are set to reject the government health insurance exchanges. Some of the ralliers questioned, 'why can't Idaho follow in their footsteps?'

They said Idaho already has solid health insurance programs and the exchange goes against "what the Republican Party stands for."

Meanwhile, a local business owner told us he supports the governor's decision on the state-run exchange, because it's a better option than the federal-run exchange.
