Three potatoes per fan at Saturday's Famous Idaho Potato Bowl to be donated to Idaho Foodbank
The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl announced today that for the second year, the Idaho Grower Shippers Association will donate three potatoes to the Idaho Foodbank for each attendee at the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
"With more than 30,000 fans projected to attend the game, the donation could be more than 90,000 potatoes or up to 42,000 lbs," said Michelle Smith with the Potato Bowl.
The Idaho Grower Shipper Association will also be delivering a $5,000 check to the Idaho Foodbank on Friday, Dec. 14.
“The Idaho Food Bank is obviously a cause that the IGSA feels very strongly about,” said Mark Klompien, President of the Idaho Grower Shippers Association. “We are very happy to again be able to give support in this way while also promoting the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.”
The potato donation will be made as a giant trailer load by the Idaho Grower Shippers Association.
The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Bronco Stadium. The Bowl will feature the No. 22 Utah State Aggies against the Toledo Rockets.
