Idaho Falls Police reports that Skyline High School students are safe following a temporary lockdown in response to report of a weapon at the school Wednesday morning.

Idaho Falls Police detained a student and located an air-soft pistol during their search of the school.

"The incident occurred around 10:43 a.m. when officers were dispatched to the school in reference to a student with a gun at school," said Joelyn Hansen with the Idaho Falls Police Department. "The IFPD, with the assistance of the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho State Police, responded immediately to the school."

Students remained in lockdown for more than an hour as officers conducted a thorough search of the school. Police eventually found the air-soft pistol in a locker.

The IFPD is still investigating the incident, but is not yet releasing the name of the student.
