Idaho Falls man arrested for robbing store after fingerprint gives him away
Idaho Falls Police arrested 19-year-old Michael John Maggio Wednesday night for robbing the Midget Market after being identified by a fingerprint recovered from a wine bottle.
"According to reports, police responded to the Midget Market, located at 340 G Street, around 6:55 p.m. for a report of a robbery," said Joelyn Hansen with the Idaho Falls Police Department. "The victim stated that a white male, later identified as Maggio, approached the counter with a bottle of wine."
According to witnesses, Maggio put the wine bottle on the counter and then pulled a revolver from his coat and demanded the money from the till. Maggio left with the cash and drove away.
Investigators recovered a fingerprint from the wine bottle left on the counter. It was entered into the department’s local fingerprint database resulting in a match to Maggio.
Maggio was located at his residence. He was booked into the Bonneville County Jail for armed robbery.
