The 2013 legislative session begins in just weeks, and lawmakers know they must find a new approach to tackling education reform. Some of them say they won't forget the voters overwhelming decision in november to repeal the students come first laws.

One incoming freshman senator Cherie Buckner-Webb says she knows this new conversation about how to better our kids future must start and end with collaboration.

"With the defeat of Props 1, 2 and 3, it's far outside the realms of politics,” said Buckner-Webb. “It's about our citizens, it's about our students, it’s about our economy, it's about Idaho and Idahoans."

Lawmakers say the education issue could be overshadowed this session by the discussion surrounding the state health insurance exchange program.
