Idaho man appeals murder conviction to high court
BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A man convicted of two counts of murder in southern Idaho is arguing his appeal before the Idaho Supreme Court, contending that he wasn't told about evidence that could have helped his case.
Robert Terry Johnson was charged with the murders of Connie Allen and Ricky Lee Magnum in Gooding County in 1993 along with a co-defendant, Thomas Robert Petersen.
Both men pleaded guilty. But Johnson says he was never told that Petersen gave a recorded interview to police taking full responsibility for the murders and claiming that Johnson didn't voluntarily participate in the crimes. Attorneys for the state say Johnson has waited too long to make those claims.
The Idaho Supreme Court is expected to hear oral arguments in the case late Monday morning.
