Boise Police were called to conduct a welfare check at a residence on the 5600 block of West Overland Road Wednesday, Dec. 5, around 11:30 a.m. after receiving citizen calls about drug activity around children who resided in the home.

"Officers observed drug paraphernalia and noted the strong odor of marijuana in the home," said Charles McClure with Boise Police. "Officers recovered 6 marijuana plants growing in a closet inside the home and determined Joshua Parkinson was in the process of producing synthetic cannabinoids (spice) in the kitchen's oven when officers arrived."

Officers also found that the drugs had been within reach of two children who also live in the home. It was determined that the children were in imminent danger and were turned over to the Idaho State Department of Health and Welfare.

Joshua Parkinson, 31 of Boise, was arrested for Felony Injury to a Child, Felony Manufacture of a Controlled Substance and Probation Violation Charges. Ashley N. Parkinson, 23 of Boise, was arrested for Felony Injury to a Child.
