Boise City Council unanimously passes nondiscrimination ordinance
The Boise City Council unanimously passed an ordinance outlawing discrimination Monday night. Council President Maryanne Jordan and Councilwoman Lauren McLean proposed the ordinance.
The new law, which will go into effect January 1, 2013, prohibits discrimination in employment, housing and public places based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
The law exempts churches and private organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America, as well as federal and state agencies.
