Middleton to receive new ambulance, increase staff
The Canyon County Ambulance District announced Tuesday they have added an additional paramedic ambulance in the city of Middleton. The new unit, which began service yesterday, is housed the Middleton Fire Department as part of a cooperative agreement between the two agencies.
“With the increased call volumes we’ve been experiencing over the past few years, we decided we needed to add an extra unit and Middleton was one of the areas that needed it the most,” said Ambulance Director Greg Owen. “This will really help improve response times and overall patient care for those in the area.”
According to Joe Decker with Canyon County, the new paramedic ambulance is classified as a “flex unit”, meaning it does not operate 24/7. Rather, it will be operational from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Owen says this ensures that the ambulance is staffed and operational during times when they experience the highest volume of emergency calls. In addition, three new full-time employees will be hired to staff the Middleton unit.
