FBI, eastern Idaho police searching for man after trooper shooting
The Salt Lake City Division of the FBI is currently helping the Post Falls Police Department and the Kootenai County Sherriff’s Office with the search for 57-year-old Mitchell Lee Walck, wanted for questioning for allegedly shooting at an Idaho State Police trooper, fleeing the scene, and then later kidnapping a woman.
Walck is also known to use the alias “Mark Mackenzie.” Police say Walck is a person of interest in the early-morning shooting at an Idaho State Police Trooper in Rathdrum. The officer was not injured.
Police say Walck is a transient who is known to frequent churches in attempt to solicit assistance. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
Walck is described as 5'10", approximately 175 pounds, with graying black hair and brown eyes. Walck was last seen wearing light colored jeans and a brown jacket.
Officials said Walck has reportedly changed his appearance, shaving all but his mustache and dying it and his hair black.
Walck was last seen on Highway 53 near Dashco in Rathdrum, running north toward Rathdrum Mountain.
Anyone who has information on Walck’s whereabouts is urged to call 911. Crime tips can be left on our website at www.postfallspolice.com.
