The Idaho Foodbank was able to provide 7,800 donated turkeys, holiday turkeys, hams or roasts to Idaho residents for Thanksgiving.

"A veteran whose family was all back East came into The Idaho Foodbank for assistance. When he saw the food we had for him, his face lit up. 'Now I can eat for Thanksgiving,' he said," according to David Proctor with the Idaho Foodbank.

Proctor said there was also a man from Pocatello who bought 50 turkeys and brought them to the Foodbank’s East Idaho branch, despite being on crutches from foot surgery.

The Foodbank's goal for December is to give out another 7,200 turkeys.

Donors can take donations to Foodbank branches in Boise, Pocatello or Lewiston, to any Les Schwab in the Treasure Valley, or to any local food pantry or community kitchen.
