Idaho man sentenced for killing child
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- A south-central Idaho man who pleaded guilty to killing his girlfriend's 3-year-old son has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The Times-News reports that Lane Buddenhagen was sentenced Friday in 5th District Court for voluntary manslaughter. He must serve five years before he's eligible for parole.
Buddenhagen says that on Aug. 6, 2011, the child refused to sit down for a bath, so he pushed him and the child hit his head. The boy died the next day at a Boise hospital.
Judge Randy Stoker says he believes something more happened than Buddenhagen was revealing but also thought Buddenhagen was remorseful.
But Stoker told Buddenhagen there must be major consequences for taking a life or otherwise life is meaningless.
Buddenhagen apologized to the boy's mother before being sentenced.
