ISP traffic stop leads to discovery of a bomb
On Thursday, Nov. 29, at 8:40 a.m. Idaho State Police initiated a routine traffic stop on US 20 near milepost 312. Shortly after the stop, a drug K9 from Bonneville County Sheriff's Office was requested to assist with a search of the vehicle. During the search, police found a homemade explosive device in the trunk. ISP and the sheriff's office then called Idaho Falls/Bonneville County Bomb Squad to the scene.
Dallin B. Baggett, 19 of Rexburg, was taken into custody and charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, Transporting Explosives, and Unlawful Possession of a Bomb or Destructive Device.
Westbound lanes of US 20 were blocked for 3 hours between mileposts 311 and 313 while the device was removed and destroyed by the Idaho Falls /Bonneville County Bomb Squad.
