Governor Butch Otter and First Lady Lori Otter invited all Idahoans to join for a celebration of the holiday season at the annual lighting of Idaho's Capitol Christmas Tree.

The Governor and First Lady also talked at the event about Idaho’s Make-A-Wish Foundation kicking off its ‘Season of Giving campaign,’ encouraging people to donate this holiday season, so wishes can be granted to Idaho children with life-threatening illnesses.

The 25th Army Band performed. The Andrus Ambassador Honor Choir from Meridian's Cecil D. Andrus Elementary School and the Coeur d'Alene Chamber Choir from Coeur d'Alene High School also performed a few Christmas carols throughout the night.

Then, the governor’s grandson flipped the switch at around 6 p.m.
