On Friday Caldwell Police responded to the Paul's Market in Caldwell to follow up on the theft of a purse from a cashier. Officers viewed a video of the theft captured on the store’s video security system and recognized the suspect from recent similar incidents as Maria Delgado.

Officers went to locate Delgado's residence in the 3400 block of Airport Ave. in Caldwell. Delgado was leaving the residence as officers arrived and was arrested for burglary and grand theft relating to the purse theft at Paul’s Market.

During a search of Delgado’s residence, officers located additional evidence such as purses, pocket books, and cell phones, suggesting that Delgado may be involved in a significant number of thefts. Caldwell Police followed up on this information and identified another purse theft victim from a separate incident in Nampa.

Debit and credit cards from both victims had been used immediately following the purse thefts. Delgado was identified by security camera video as the suspect using one of the cards at a Caldwell Maverik store.

The investigation into these crimes is ongoing. Additional suspects are expected to be identified and arrested.
