Man dies after car crashes and catches on fire
Oregon State Police were called to a crash early Thursday morning after a single-vehicle fatal crash that resulted in the death of an adult male on Highway 204 about three miles west of Elgin.
On Nov. 22, just before 3:45 a.m., a 1989 Chevrolet pickup driven by Troy Templeton, 44 of Elgin, was northbound on Summerville Road at a high rate of speed when it traveled through the T-intersection at Highway 204, went airborne and crashed into an embankment. The pickup, with Templeton inside, caught fire and was totalled.
Templeton was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators haven't confirmed yet if he was wearing a seatbelt.
