"Think Boise First" encourages local shopping
Rushing a giant retailer's doors in the early hours of Black Friday doesn't always sound like your idea of a good time. Local retailers want you to think about shopping in peace - at independently owned shops.
"Think Boise First" hopes to remind people of the benefits of supporting small businesses, and keeping the money in the community.
"We like to say, keep your green in Boise - tis the season to buy local," said Ryan Myers, executive director of Think Boise First. "The benefit is, when you spend a dollar here, it goes further. You're not sending it to a big box store, where part of your money gets shipped off to another state, or anything of the sort. A lot of the local businesses here, they take the money you spend and re-spend it in the community."
While the national Small Business Saturday is coming up on Nov. 24, Think Boise First hopes consumers will think small business every day - especially during the holidays.
