Police identify driver in fatal Highway 55 crash
An Eagle man died after his vehicle went off a shoulder of Highway 55 near Horseshoe Bend Monday evening.
Police say the driver was Steven Lenon, 61.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene about 7:30 p.m. Monday, a 1997 Toyota 4-Runner was located upside-down in the river just north of Porter Creek on State Highway 55. Police say Lenon and a dog were found in the vehicle, deceased.
Investigators say Lenon was northbound on State Highway 55 and went off the right shoulder, and overcorrected. The vehicle went off the left shoulder, down the embankment, and overturned into the river. The driver was wearing a seatbelt. Weather was not a factor in this crash.
This crash is still under investigation.
