Idaho meth dealer whose lab caught fire sentenced
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- An eastern Idaho methamphetamine maker whose makeshift drug lab was discovered by firefighters called to douse a blaze at his home earlier this year will spend five years on probation.
Forty-six-year-old Rodney Jenkins also must serve 45 days in jail for separate counts of delivering and manufacturing the illegal stimulant.
The Idaho Falls Post-Register reports Jenkins pleaded guilty in 7th District Court after his lab was discovered in May by the fire crew.
They'd arrived after a report that a pickup and the rear of Jenkins' home were ablaze, only to discover drug-making chemicals and suspicious glassware.
Jenkins' co-defendant in the case, 40-year-old Tonia Jo Bates, was ordered in July to serve three years' probation after she pleaded guilty to delivery of a controlled substance.
