Wednesday morning, Nov. 7, the City of Nampa cut down and moved the tree donated for the city Christmas tree this year.

"The owner of the tree is Dorothy Tines," said Sharla Arledge with City of Nampa. "She and her husband, Ed, now deceased, planted the tree in 1963. They moved in to their house in August of 1963. There was no lawn or landscaping. They purchased the 3 foot tall Blue Spruce to use as their Christmas tree that year, and after Christmas planted it in the yard. It was the only thing in their yard until the following spring when they planted grass."

The tree is now 49 years old. Tines and her family hope to attend at the tree lighting on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.
