James Duane Ambrose has been arrested in Las Vegas, on a Cassia County warrant for first-degree murder in the death of a Twin Falls man.

Ambrose was arrested after police received a tip following the airing of this case on America’s Most Wanted. He was arrested without incident, and Cassia County Investigators are in Las Vegas interviewing him now. He is facing charges in Las Vegas and will be transported back to Cassia County when Las Vegas is finished with him.

The Cassia County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation into the suspicious incident at the Alpine Garden Motel has now become a Homicide Investigation.

A body of an adult male was located in the crawl space under the office of the Alpine Motel on May 18 of this year. Positive identification was made and the body was determined to be that of 54-year-old Russ Taft. It was determined during the autopsy conducted that Taft died from blunt force trauma to the head and a stab wound to the heart.

Ambrose has a current Cassia County warrant for his arrest for Grand Theft, and had multiple warrants for his arrest in Las Vegas Nevada for Kidnapping, Robbery, Burglary, Battery, and Grand Larceny.

On Aug. 30, a warrant has been issued from Cassia County for the arrest of Ambrose on the charge of first-degree murder and a weapons enhancement relating to the murder of Taft.
