Ada County wants to remind residents living in unincorporated areas of the county will soon notice an increase in their trash collection rates, effective immediately, because on Oct. 30, 2012 the Board of Ada County Commissioners voted to increase that rate.

In a 2 to 1 vote, the commissioners approved a 1.99 percent increase in trash collection rates for rural areas of the county not currently within a city’s limits. The new rate was included in the most recent billing, which is due Nov. 14, 2012.

"The new monthly rate for standard residential trash and recycling service in unincorporated Ada County will be $17.18," said Jessical Donald with Ada County. "Standard residential trash quarterly rate is now $51.54. This rate is comparable to that of surrounding jurisdictions, with the City of Meridian charging $16.62 per month for standard service, and the City of Boise currently charging $17.80 per month for standard trash service or $13.80 with a $4 recycling discount."

Trash collection is billed quarterly by the county.
