Sheriff identifies teen who drowned in Teton River
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- Eastern Idaho authorities say a 17-year-old boy has drowned in the Teton River.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office says Brett Ryan Ours drowned about 5 p.m. Monday near a bridge near State Highway 33.
Madison County Sheriff's Capt. Bruce Bowler tells the Standard Journal that a friend jumped into the river to save Ours but failed.
Authorities say Ours was as student at Central Alternative High School in Rexburg.
Bowler says deep holes and undercurrents near the bridge make it a dangerous section of the river.
