Truck driver escapes injury in eastern Oregon rollover
A commercial truck driver from Caldwell escaped injury early Friday morning after losing control, causing his semi-trailer to overturn along a stretch of Interstate 84 about four miles northwest of Farewell Bend in eastern Oregon.
When the trailer overturned on its side, the roof ruptured spilling produce off the highway.
According to Oregon State Police Lieutenant Mark Duncan, about 2:30 a.m., a 2006 International truck pulling a semi-trailer loaded with produce driven by Rollie Close, 49, of Caldwell, was eastbound on Interstate 84 near when it traveled into the center median.
Investigators say Close overcorrected, causing the trailer to overturn on its left side. That caused the roof to split open, spilling its contents onto the ground.
Close was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.
He was cited for failing to drive within a lane.
