Idaho Falls police officer shoots pit bull
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- Officials with the Idaho Falls police department say an officer shot and badly wounded a pit bull after the dog reportedly ran toward him in an aggressive manner.
The Post-Register reports the wounded dog was euthanized. It was the second time this year officer Malin Reynolds shot a pit bull while on duty.
Police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen says Reynolds shot the dog shortly before noon on Tuesday as two dogs ran toward him while he was investigating a homeless couple camping in the Snake River Landing area. Hansen says Reynolds was unable to grab his pepper spray quickly enough.
The couple was cited for trespassing.
Reynolds also shot and killed a pit bull in early January when two dogs charged at him and another officer.
Reynolds declined to comment on Tuesday's shooting.
