Boise man pleads guilty in fatal crash
BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A 20-year-old Boise man has pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular manslaughter for a March 3 crash that killed two teens and injured himself and two others.
Cody Olson entered his guilty pleas Thursday before 4th District Judge Lynn Norton.
Prosecutors said Olson was under in the influence of alcohol and marijuana and witnesses said he appeared to be racing someone when his car went off the Interstate-184 Connector and smashed into a concrete wall. The crash killed 18-year-old Scott R. Hyde. Kelsey Belcher, also 18, died a week later.
Olson and 19-year-old Nick Hendriksen suffered traumatic brain injuries and were hospitalized for weeks while a 17-year-old girl suffered a collapsed lung.
Prosecutors plan to seek a 5- to 20-year sentence when Olson is sentenced on Jan. 3.
