Mother who allegedly abandoned children on side of highway faces felony charges
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) -- The woman arrested after she allegedly abandoned her two young boys along Interstate 90 in Idaho will face felony charges from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office.
27-year-old Shannon M. Germanton, also known as Shannon Duval, is in the Spokane County Jail, where she awaits extradition to Idaho for two felony charges of injury to a child.
An anonymous tip Tuesday night led Spokane County deputies to Germanton's Spokane Valley home, where she was arrested on a previous warrant for negligent driving.
Her boys, ages 6 and 3, were found on Tuesday morning at a construction site on I-90 near the Washington-Idaho border. The boys, who are in state protective custody, told deputies their mother ran out of gas and went for help.
