Native New Yorker, Amanda Austin, lives in a Manhattan apartment.  Austin was forced to evacuate her home this weekend in anticipation of Hurricane Sandy.

"I'm concerned when I'll be able to get back into the city, if i'll be able to get back in the city," Amanda said standing on the front porch of her parents Long Island home. The Austin family like millions of others on the East Coast is stocking up on essentials and bracing for the wrath of Sandy.

"It's absolute chaos," Amanda exclaimed. "Everybody is going to get water, bread, milk, eggs, honestly, it's crazy."

The Austin family and thousands of others in the Long Island area lost power Monday evening. Stay with Today's 6 and Fox 9 for updates on how the Austin family is coping with the affects of Hurricane Sandy.
