CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) -- A Canyon County sheriff's deputy who was shot several times while trying to apprehend a suspect in an aggravated assault case is hospitalized in serious but stable condition
Chief Deputy Kieran Donahue told the Idaho Press-Tribune on Wednesday the deputy is expected to recovery from his injuries.
Deputies were pursuing 27-year-old Kyle Alan Batt of Caldwell late Tuesday when he reportedly fired multiple shots and hit two deputies. The second deputy was treated for minor injuries and released.
Officers say Batt shot himself after a SWAT team found him hiding in a garage. He is hospitalized, but his condition has not been released.
