I-84 closed near Baker City for multiple slide-offs
According to Oregon State Police, all eastbound lanes of I-84 are closing in La Grande at Exit 265 due to semi's blocking the freeway near milepost 317, 13 miles south of Baker City.
Road conditions between La Grande and Baker City remain hazardous with multiple slide offs. The eastbound freeway is expected to be closed for several hours. According to OSP, three commercial vehicles were involved in a non-injury accident.
"Preliminary information indicates on October 25, at approximately 5:30 a.m., a commercial truck pulling a semi-trailer traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 318 lost control and jackknifed," said the Oregon State Polcie. "A second commercial truck pulling a trailer struck the rear of the first trailer. A third commercial truck pulling two trailers collided with the first truck before continuing down the road and coming to rest partially off the freeway."
Westbound lanes are open at this time, but OSP said that travelers are advised to drive with extreme caution and be prepared for winter conditions and possible delays.
