Woman pleads guilty for not reporting landlady death
BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A 44-year-old Boise woman has pleaded guilty to failing to report the 2007 death of her landlady from whom she had stolen more than $7,500.
Carrie Horsman was charged in May and pleaded guilty Wednesday to grand theft and failing to notify law enforcement of the death of 75-year-old Dee R. Lynn of Meridian. Lynn's decomposing body was found zipped in a suitcase in the garage of a house she shared with Horsman as police investigated a check fraud case against Horsman.
Horsman has been jailed since her arrest and faces up to 24 years in prison when she is sentenced on Dec. 12 by 4th District Judge Patrick Owen.
Horsman was on probation for a previous theft case when Lynn went missing. Lynn's cause of death could not be determined.
