Former daycare worker faces additional child sex abuse charges
The Canyon County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday that twelve additional child abuse charges have been filed against a former Nampa daycare center worker.
We reported last month that Joshua Ritchie, 23, of Nampa, was charged with one count of lewd conduct with a child. Police say the crime took place in August. Ritchie worked at both the Cornerstone daycare on Birch Lane and the Idaho Arts Charter School, both in Nampa.
Now prosecutors say they have enough evidence to charge Ritchie with an additional twelve counts, including two of possessing child pornography. He now faces nine counts of lewd conduct with a major under sixteen, one count of sexual abuse of a child under sixteen, and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child (i.e., possessing child pornography).
Deputy Canyon County Prosecutor Erica Kallin told us Ritchie knew his victims, mostly through his employment at the daycare facility.
Ritchie remains in the Canyon County Jail on a $2.5 million bond.
He is scheduled to enter a plea November 2nd.
