Meridian great-grandmother loves the Broncos
BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- A Meridian great-grandmother who enjoys both sewing and football is having a "bucket list" wish fulfilled this weekend with tickets to the Boise State game.
Bea Hendrix lives at Grace Assisted Living in Meridian and is known both for her sewing and her love of football. She says a high school physical education teacher taught everyone the rules to the game.
So when staffers at the assisted living facility asked residents what they'd like to do that they hadn't done yet, Hendrix asked to see a game on the blue turf.
The Idaho Statesman reports Julie Mellinger bought her mom a black Boise State sweat shirt so she could join the "blackout" for Saturday's UNLV game. BSU players are wearing black uniforms for the first time.
Hendrix says she admires coach Chris Peterson and is looking forward to a Bronco win.
