Idaho Lottery holds state's largest scratch off contest to benefit Idaho schools
The Idaho Lottery gives back to schools with a huge scratch ticket competition they call Scratch for Schools. So many teachers and players turned out last year, that this year they moved the event to the CenturyLink Arena.
Hundreds showed up to represent their schools. They attendees get a huge pile of tickets that they have to scratch off in five minutes. It's the biggest scratch-off ever held in Idaho.
"It actually is very hard. I think they put extra layers on there,” said teacher Shar Johnson. “It's very hard to scratch and your arms and wrists get so tired. It'w way hard to do."
The schools get to keep all the money they win. They use the money for library books, reader boards and repairing playground equipment. Last year the participants scratched off about $20,000.
