Scentsy “pays it forward” with a $781,552 donation
Scentsy, the Meridian-based scented and wickless candle company, presented the American Heart Association Thursday with a $781,552 donation.
It was Scentsy’s largest cash donation to date.
Each year, the company raises money from the sales of a particular product. This year, the money was raised from the sales of Scentsy’s previous Cause Warmer, “Heartfelt.”
In a news release, Heidi Thompson, Scentsy President and co-owner with husband Orville Thompson (pictured) said, “When Scentsy was about five-years-old, we formed the Scentsy Family Foundation and had the idea to sell a Charitable Cause Product each catalog season to benefit a national charity. “Heartfelt” is Scentsy’s fifth Charitable Cause Product and we’re so proud that, thanks to our Consultants, we can pay it forward and help others.”
At 8 a.m. Thursday, more than 100 people turned out for the company’s “Heartfelt Fun Run” at Kleiner Memorial Park in Meridian. The Run was an event designed to celebrate heart health and the success of the fundraiser by getting people up bright and early for a bit of exercise.
Scentsy is an international party-plan company, offering a variety of home and personal fragrance products. Its flagship product, scented, wickless candles heated in decorative ceramic warmers, provides a better alternative to burning wicked candles. . Scentsy products are sold through a network of more than 200,000 Independent Consultants running home-based businesses in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.
