Child in hospital after being hit by a truck
On October 12, 2012, just before 8 p.m., Garden City Police responded to Adams Street in reference to an accident involving a passenger truck and an eight-year-old child.
Officers learned that an eight-year-old girl was walking with family members when she walked southbound across Adams Street, at the intersection of E. 42nd. As she crossed the street, she was struck by a 1983 Dodge truck driven by 35-year-old male resident of Garden City, who was on his way to work. The young girl sustained significant injuries as a result of the collision.
Ada County Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the girl to a Boise hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.
According to Garden City Police, alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the accident.
Police believe there might have been other motorists who potentially witnessed the accident and encourage anyone who might have been in the area at the time of the collision to contact the Garden City Police Department at 472-2950 or Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
