The Thompson Creek Fire currently burning on the Minidoka Ranger District is 10 percent contained and currently at 650 acres. Incident Commander J.W. McCoy estimates that the fire will be contained by October 14, 2012 and controlled on October 16, 2012.

"The fire is burning in Sub-alpine Fir and Sagebrush. Currently there are several private cabins that are threatened by the fire but structure protection is being provided by the Rock Creek Rural Fire District," said McCoy. "The cause of the fire is under investigation and will be determined by law enforcement."

Road closures are in effect at Third Fork on Rock Creek Road and at the Forest boundary in Shoshone Basin. Only fire personnel are being allowed up Rock Creek Road and Shoshone Basin.
