Local ski resorts prepare for snow
Sun Valley Resort now has snow! Sort of. The ski area said the temperatures have allowed them to begin making snow this morning for the first time this season.
"We make snow so we have the best possible product," said Jack Sibbach with the resort. "And so we can be open by Thanksgiving."
Sibbach said it is cold enough right now where they can make snow 4 to 5 hours a day, with no worries of it getting warm enough for that snow to melt. The other resorts are hopeful for a good year, but do not foresee snow any time soon.
April Russell with Brundage Mountain said they expect freezing temperatures all week with frost, but do not expect any precipitation. The forecast shows this week will bring only sunny skies.
Bogus Basin also doesn't expect any precipitation any time soon. Last season they didn't open until January 19, 2012 because of lack of snow, but are hopeful this year will bring cooler temperatures.
